Danube Fishing(ROBG-348)

What’s the goal?

The project aims to improve the sustainable use of natural heritage and resources by developing common tourism products based on amateur fishing. This will be achieved by raising awareness in the cross-border area of the social and economic benefits of tourist fishing tourism and the development and promotion of two new tourist products based on natural resources.

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Implementation of the program : 2 integrated tourism products / services created, 2 common strategies, policies or management plans for valorisation (including awareness raising) of cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion of sustainable economic use

Program results : 6000 tourist nights in the CBC area.

Project status

The project was launched with a press conferences held in Ruse and in Slatina. Both partners appointed the staff that will be included in the joint management team;

The Lead Beneficiary awarded the contract for the development of the joint strategy for awareness raising of the social and economic benefits of recreational fishing tourism within the cross-border Bulgarian-Romanian region and the strategy is currently in development. The development of the Common Marketing Strategy was also awarded by Beneficiary 2 the Common Marketing Strategy was delivered, with the related implementation and financial plan currently in development. The mapping of the best/most popular fishing and boating spots in the CB area is still in progress during the reporting period, but is to be finalised shortly afterwards;

The development of the interactive GIS based platform "Danube fishing routes" is also in progress, with the first 2 phases already completed and accepted by the LB - a detailed technical specifications of the individual functionalities of the software was developed, a design solutions for the system and its individual functional elements were delivered, including Custom interfaces, information database, technology and organization, software and technical support; a technical implementation plan was also prepared;

The organization of the “Angling along the Danube” annual fishing festival is in preparation. Beneficiary 2 is preparing the terms of reference for ensuring the logistics of the festival. They have also started the campaign, aimed at attracting participants for the festival, with the first event taking place on 23.04.2019 in Slatina, where 20 representatives of the potential participant in the festival were acquainted with the project and planned tourism products.
