ROBG – 21 CODE “Community Opposition of Disastrous Events”

What’s the goal?

To increase local capacity in rural areas of Romania-Bulgaria border region (regions of Dolj in Romania, Vidin and Montana in Bulgaria) for disasters’ prevention and mitigation trough development of extended volunteer units and their better preparation, including in a cross-border context.

280.566,42 euro, out of which 238.481,46 euro ERDF

How is it going to happen?

  • Promotion of the project – publications and publicity;
  • Research of needs and resources;                                                                                                                                
  • International meetings of experts;
  • Development of methodical materials;
  • Web-site development;
  • Implementation of 54 training sessions in both countries;
  • Implementation of two joint practical exercises;
  • Project management.
  • 200 volunteers trained and prepared for joint actions  in the field of joint early warning and emergency response ;
  • 120 local administrations officers prepared for risk management.

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs

- 64,000 people benefiting from actions of risk management.

Programme results:

- increasing the number of specialists on site, prepared for action in case of disaster;

- contribution to the skills of local authorities to manage people in times of emergency;

- improved joint risk management in the cross-border area.

Project status

Main results achieved in the previous reporting periods:

Activity 1 - Project promotion  -   479 people from local authorities were informed about the project

Activity 2 - Implementation of Comparative Research -  1 research report about the situation in Romania and Bulgaria, developed.

Activity 3 - First CODE meeting of experts  - the Research report and the terms of reference for the creation of common methodology set were adopted;

Activity 4 - Methodical Set elaboration  -  1 methodological set for training programme was developed;

Activity 5 – Second CODE meeting of experts -  20 experts participated at the meeting,  to discuss all the training programme developed at A4;

Activity 6 - Website development and maintenance  -  the project platform is updated permanently with new information;

Activity 7 - Training sessions -  54 courses were organized;

Activity 8 - Joint practical exercises; 2 events organized;

Activity 9 - Material provision of education and network -  all  types of equipment were given to the local communities;

Activity 10 - Conclusion forum - one event organized, in RO;

Activity 11 - Publications - Collection of materials and brochure were developed, in RO and BG;

Activity 12 - Information and Publicity - 4 press conference were organized and 300 promotional materials were distributed to the training participants;

Activity 13 - Project management:  8 management meetings were organized.
