Integrated risk management and efficient reactions of authorities for civil safety

What’s the goal?

The main overall objective of the project is to increase cross border cooperation in emergency prevention and intervention of authorities and to develop infrastructure and joint services to prevent natural and technological disasters, in the same time with developing the capacity to react quickly to threats to the health and integrity of citizens and goods, in order to ensure a safe area, a sustainable development and an increase in the standard of living of the population.

What’s the budget?

988,827.18 euro, out of which 840,503.09 euro ERDF

Who is doing it?

Lead Beneficiary (LB): Territorial Administrative Unit Ovidiu Town (Romania) - 420,897.40 euro

Beneficiary 2 (B2): Shabla Municipality (Bulgaria) – 409,407.64 euro

Beneficiary 3 (B3): Idein Development Foundation (Bulgaria) – 158,522.14 euro

End date: 23.07.2020

Where is it happening?

Ruse, Dobrich, Constanta

How is it going to happen?                      

  • Acquisition of special equipment for alerting the population in emergency situations, such as earthquakes, fires;
  •    Development of joint hazard maps;
  •    Organization of trainings and best practice sessions;
    • Dissemination of information to ensure the increase of public awareness with regard to the protection measures in emergency situation;

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs: 18,711 people benefiting from actions of risk management; 18,711 people benefiting from flood protection measures; 5,580 people benefiting from forest fire protection measures

Programme results: increase of the quality of the joint risk management in the CBC area

Project status

So far the following progress has been reported within the project:

- 2 press-conferences for announcing the start of the project were held, one in Ovidiu, Romania on 23rd of October 2018 and one in Shabla, Bulgaria on 29th of March 2019;

- A Project Implementation Plan, a Risk management plan and a Communication plan were developed;

- An Ambulance type B and a special vehicle for intervention in fire were delivered to the LB along with the special equipment for alerting the population in emergency situations, such as earthquakes and fires;

- The contract for developing of Hazard Maps was awarded by B3 and the first 2 stages of the maps have been delivered;

- The volunteers team of 10 persons was appointed at LB level and the equipment foreseen within the project for them have been delivered;
