Joint efforts against natural disasters
What’s the goal?
The overall objective of the project is to ensure a fast working cross-border interaction and cooperation in case of emergency situations caused by man-made or natural disasters.

How is it going to happen?
- elaboration of well-structured common action plans and strategies;
- coordination of the joint initiatives such as know-how sharing, training, resources, and equipment sharing;
- constant monitoring of the current situation and identification of potential risks;
- involvement of the population through delivery of information about possible risks and appropriate behavior to avoid and minimize them;
- introduction of measures and rules for prevention of natural and man-made hazards on a local and cross-border level;
- implementation of an early warning system where this would lead to specific preventive actions;
- modernization of tools and equipment needed to perform the specific tasks and actions;
- landslide area reconstruction.
What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?
Programme outputs: 1 joint partnership in the field of joint early warning and emergency response, 22,000 people benefiting from actions of risk management and flood protection measures, 385,000 people benefiting from forest fire protection measures
Programme results: increased quality of the joint risk management in the CBC area
Project status
The project is under implementation. The following results have been reported so far:
On behalf of the LB:
- finished the implementation of the works activities for Landslide reconstruction for strengthening the landslide in Ignatitsa village;
- finalized the information campaign among representatives of the municipal administration, representatives of the state administration on the local level, municipal structures, teachers from schools and kinder gardens;
- elaborated the joint “Strategy and action plan” in case of disasters.
B2Mehedinti County Gendarmes Inspectorate, purchased and delivered the following equipment:
- two pick-up 4x4 land vehicles for action in the forest fire-fighting;
- one 6X4 multifunctional vehicle with crane;
- one mobile container to transport materials (sand);
- one mobile container for transporting firefighting equipment;
- fire firefighting equipment;
- two glucometers;
- two first aid kits;
- a drone.
