Improving the connection to the TEN-T network in the cross-border area Medgidia – Dobrich

What’s the goal?

The main objective of the project is to bring together communities and businesses in Medgidia and Dobrich by improving the cross-border transport system, using a better connection to the TEN-T network.

What’s the budget?

7 988 762.57 euro, out of which 6 790 448.18 euro ERDF

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs: 13,736 km(6,104 km in Medgidia and 7,632 km in Dobrich) total length of roads rebuilt or modernized; 3 common mechanisms to facilitate the connection of secondary / tertiary nodes to the TEN-T infrastructure (1 route guidance; 1 transport safety measures; 1 awareness-raising activities)

Programme results: 136,114 cross-border population served by modernized infrastructure leading to TEN-T

Project status (reflected in progress reports)

The project is in the 29th month of implementation out of 36 months, the activities have been implemented in accordance with the approved AF.

The main activities of the project are already implemented and the investment for both beneficiaries are finalized. LB has completed the modernization of 6.104 km of streets in Medgidia, while the B2 has finalized the modernization of 7.63 km of streets in Dobrich.

The raising awareness campaign was completed:

- 6 seminars were organized in school from Medgidia in order to educate the younger generation about traffic rules;

- 1 awareness campaign has been organized, named “Be responsible in traffic!”

- awareness materials were created and distributed during campaign in order to increase the level of education of traffic participants : brochure, radio spot, press release, questionnaires.
