How’s it going to happen?

  • 27,38 km modernized on the Romanian territory - modernization DJ607A – Ringroad Drobeta - TurnuSeverin–Cerneti – ValeaCopcii – Peri – Prunisor (E70-TEN-T);
  • 6,450 km modernized on the Bulgarian territory - rehabilitation of road PVN1041, road PVN2046 and road PVN3044;
  • Organizing 3 press conferences and 8 press releases (4 in Romania, 4 in Bulgaria);
  • Information and publicity materials (temporary and permanent billboards);

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs:

- 33,83 km total length of reconstructed or upgraded roads

Programme results: Cross border population (535,142 people: Pleven District = 269,752 persons and Mehedinti County = 265,390 persons) served by modernized infrastructure leading to TEN-T

Project status:

Considering that the project envisages road rehabilitation, the main progress registered at project level consists of the actions implemented by both project partners so far, as detailed below:

Lead Beneficiary – TAU Mehedinti County Council has updated the feasibility study and launched for the third time the public procurement procedure for design and works for modernization of 27.819 km of roads (DJ607A – Ringroad Drobeta – TurnuSeverin–Cerneti – ValeaCopcii – Peri – Prunisor -E70-TEN-T), in September 2019. Following the evaluation process of the three offers received, an execution contract was signed in January 2020. The Start Order for execution of the works was issued in the middle of May 2020 and currently the construction works are ongoing. In accordance with works execution duration and schedule, the construction works are expected to be finalized until October 2023. The physical stage of the works has reached 59% so far, represented by embankment of the bypass road from km 6+908 - 8+655 and km10+170 - 13+275 and works on water collection, drainage and evacuation devices. In addition, the Lead Beneficiary reported also the acquisition, respectively installation and placement of the 8 temporary panels among the investment objective.

Beneficiary 2 – Municipality of Dolna Mitropolia succeeded to assess the submitted offers and awarded three distinct contracts (for each of the three sections - road PVN1041, road PVN2046 and road PVN3044, a different contract was signed for the elaboration of the technical design and works execution). Following the signed contracts, the construction sites of all three Lots of the investment were opened in the end of November 2019. Further on, the execution of the works part from investment objective 2 – „Rehabilitation of Municipal road network of PVN 2046 / ІІІ-118, Podem – Dolna Mitropolia / - Bivolare/ PVN 1042”,Km 0+00 – Km 1+800” and investment objective 3 -„Rehabilitation of Municipal road network of PVN 3044 / ІІІ-118, Podem – Dolna Mitropolia / - Bozhuritsa / PVN 1042, from Km 0+000 to Km 2+100” were finalized since the beginning of June 2020. The construction works, which are part from investment objective 1 - „Rehabilitation of Municipal road network of PVN 1041/ ІІІ-118, Komarevo - Dolna Mitropolia / - Podem - Riben - DZS 1 MAY from Km 0 + 750 to Km 3 + 300“ were also finalized. The Permit for acceptance and use is issued from Directorate for National Construction Control for Road acceptance in the beginning of August 2020. The complete rehabilitation of road PVN1041, road PVN2046 and road PVN3044 is representing a length from 6.45 km rehabilitated road sections modernized on the Bulgarian territory.

Through the modernized road sections on the Bulgarian territory, the project is contributing to the Programme Result Indicator “Cross border population served by modernized infrastructure leading to TEN-T” with the total number of 7095 people from Dolna Mitropolia, Podem, Riben, Bozhurets, Pobeda and Bivolare in Bulgaria.
